Website Designer Overview

Workspace Website Designer lets you build and customise website pages without needing to write code. This overview explains how Page Designer is organised and what the currently available widgets are designed to do.

Workspace no longer uses the traditional website themes previously offered. Customise your website through SettingsWebsite Styles and build individual pages with Page Designer. New website themes, styled component libraries and page templates will be introduced progressively to provide more professionally designed starting points.

How Page Designer works

Pages are built from three main components: sections, columns and widgets.

Sections

A section is a horizontal area of a page. Stack sections to organise content such as an introduction, portfolio, services, testimonials and enquiry area. Each section can have its own available width, background, spacing and layout settings.

Columns

Columns divide a section into spaces for your content. Page Designer supports one-, two-, three- and four-column arrangements, including layouts where one column is wider than another. Choose the simplest arrangement that communicates the content clearly and remember that columns generally stack on smaller screens.

Widgets

Widgets are the content elements placed inside columns. Select the widget you need, configure its content and presentation, save it, then preview the complete page.

For a more detailed explanation, see Understanding sections, columns and widgets.

Text and media widgets

  • Image: add a single image to a page layout.
  • Text Editor: add and format text, headings and related content.
  • Hero Banner: create a full-width banner with an image, heading, supporting text and button.
  • HTML Editor: add advanced custom HTML or supported embedded content.
  • Video: add video from your Media Library, YouTube or Vimeo. Video embedding requires a Pro+ plan.
  • Button: add a call-to-action button with a link.
  • FAQ: add collapsible questions and answers.

Image-sharing widgets

  • Gallery Portal: display links to selected image galleries.
  • Slideshow: display a slideshow using gallery images.
  • Scrolling Gallery: present gallery images in a scrolling page experience.
  • Print Shop Gallery: display a broader Print Shop collection using shop-focused layouts and presentation controls.
  • Print Feature: curate up to nine photographs in a row, grid or slider. When a visitor selects an image, Workspace opens it in your Print Shop so they can view the available products and purchase it.
  • Banner Slideshow: rotate selected images across a banner area.
  • Hero Slideshow: create a curated image slider with navigation and an optional text and button overlay.
  • Client Websites: display links to active client websites.
  • Horizontal Slider (Full Width): display a full-width horizontal image slider.

Bookings, forms and social widgets

  • Booking: connect a page with your public packages and online booking experience.
  • Form: embed one of your Workspace CRM forms.
  • Blog: set where the main blog content appears.
  • Recent Blog Posts: display your three most recently published posts.
  • Social Media Icons: display the social links configured in Website Settings.

Website elements

  • Logo: display the logo configured in Website Settings.
  • Content Divider: add visual separation between content areas.

Other widgets

  • Gallery Lightbox: display a collection of images that visitors can open in a larger lightbox view.
  • School Login Link: add a link to the school gallery login experience.

Choose widgets for the visitor’s task

Start with what someone needs to understand or do on the page, then add only the widgets that support that purpose. A clear heading, a considered selection of images and one obvious next action will usually be more effective than using every available element.
