Workspace lets you present videos and slideshows alongside a Client Gallery. They can look similar when viewed by a client, but they are created differently and suit different purposes.
Video
A video is a finished film that you have created in video-editing software. Short films can be uploaded to the Workspace Media Library and connected to a Client Gallery.
Use video for:
- wedding or portrait highlight films;
- short ceremony, speech or behind-the-scenes clips;
- social-media films prepared for a client; and
- motion content that complements the photographs.
Direct Workspace video uploads require Pro or Pro+, must be MP4 files, and are limited to 15 minutes and 20GB per video. The file must also fit within your remaining video-storage allowance.
Within a Client Gallery, a video can be used as a Feature Video, shown on the Video Page or placed among the photographs. An uploaded Media Library video can also be offered for download or sale when the relevant price-list options have been configured.
For the upload and gallery settings, see Delivering video on Workspace.
Long-form video
A full ceremony, performance, documentary or other long film is usually better hosted with a dedicated video service such as Vimeo or YouTube. You can add that video to a page on your Workspace website and include a clear link to the relevant Client Gallery, keeping the film and photographs connected for your client.
See How to deliver a long-form video alongside a Client Gallery.
Slideshow
A slideshow is created in Workspace from photographs in a gallery. It combines selected images with music, timing, motion, transitions and optional text.
Use a slideshow when you want to:
- turn a collection of photographs into a story-led presentation;
- create an engaging introduction to a gallery;
- deliver a photographic highlight piece; or
- create an MP4 from still images.
See Creating a Slideshow.
Which should you choose?
- Choose a video when the original work is moving footage.
- Choose a slideshow when you want to tell the story with still photographs.
- Use an external video platform for long-form films or content likely to receive substantial streaming.
