Workspace gives you the tools to build a website that connects your photography, galleries, enquiries and bookings in one place. You do not need to know how to code to get started.
Workspace no longer uses traditional website themes. Instead, you use Website Styles to set the overall look of your site, then use Website Pages and Page Designer to arrange the content on each page.
Before you start
Gather the essentials you want to use across your website:
- Your logo and business name.
- A small, carefully edited selection of portfolio images.
- Your preferred fonts, colours and button style.
- A short introduction to your business and the services you offer.
- The main action you want visitors to take, such as making an enquiry, viewing a gallery or booking a session.
A sensible order for building your site
- Set your Website Styles. Establish your fonts, colours and other site-wide design choices first.
- Plan your pages. Most photography websites begin with Home, About, Services or Experience, Portfolio and Contact.
- Create your navigation. Keep the main menu short and use clear names that visitors will recognise.
- Build each page. Add sections, choose column layouts and place widgets for text, images, galleries, forms and calls to action.
- Review the mobile experience. Check every page on a phone as well as a larger screen.
- Add page details and SEO information. Give each page a clear title, URL slug and useful description.
- Preview and publish. Test navigation, forms, buttons and links before updating the published version.
Plan the essential business and policy pages
A professional website should make it easy for visitors to understand who they are dealing with and how their information, enquiries and purchases are handled. Depending on your business and location, you may need pages or notices covering:
- Your privacy policy and how personal information is collected and used.
- Cookies and analytics used on the site, including any consent notice required in the places where you operate.
- Your business terms, booking or service policies.
- Returns, cancellations, repairs, delivery and fulfilment when you sell products.
- Clear business and contact details.
Use requirements appropriate to your business and the countries where you operate. Workspace can provide the pages, but you remain responsible for the wording and should obtain suitable professional advice when needed. Review these pages when your services, website tools or legal requirements change.
Website Styles and page design serve different purposes
Website Styles provide the design foundation shared across your site. Page Designer controls the content and layout of an individual page. Keeping those roles separate helps your website remain consistent as you add or update pages.
New design starting points are coming
New website themes, styled component libraries and page templates will be introduced progressively. They will make it easier to begin with a coordinated design or add professionally styled sections to a page. Until they are available in your account, continue building pages with the current sections, columns and widgets.
