How to reuse a previous email campaign safely

Reusing a successful campaign can save time, but treat the new send as a separate campaign. Dates, links, offers and audiences can become inaccurate even when the design still looks suitable.

Choose a suitable starting point

Open the previous campaign and review its structure. If your campaign list provides a duplicate or copy action, use it to create a new editable campaign. If that action is not available, create a new campaign and use the previous message as a reference.

Do not reschedule the original completed campaign as a shortcut.

Update the campaign details

  • Give the new campaign a clear internal name.
  • Replace old dates, deadlines, prices, coupon codes and availability.
  • Check every button and text link.
  • Update images, alternative text and contact details.
  • Remove wording that assumes the recipient saw the previous campaign.

Select the audience again

Choose the intended current Email Marketing Audience or filter and review the recipient total. A previous audience may now include unsubscribed, invalid or newly subscribed contacts, so rely on the current audience state rather than an old number.

Review and schedule it as a new send

  1. Check the sender, subject and preview text.
  2. Send a test and open the links.
  3. Review the campaign on a phone and larger screen.
  4. Confirm the audience and schedule.
  5. Place the new campaign in the send queue only when the details are current.

After sending, review the new campaign’s activity separately so its results are not confused with the earlier message.
