Consent, unsubscribes and responsible email marketing

Permission is the foundation of a healthy mailing list. Send marketing only to people who have knowingly agreed to receive it and make it easy for them to stop.

What consent should mean

The person should understand who will email them and the general kind of communication they will receive. A dedicated sign-up form or clear optional checkbox provides a stronger record than an assumption.

Do not treat gallery viewing, an order, an enquiry without marketing opt-in, or inclusion in a client database as automatic permission for general marketing.

Imports

Workspace requires you to confirm consent when importing mailing-list contacts. Do not import purchased, scraped or third-party lists. Keep a record of where and when contacts subscribed.

Unsubscribes

Marketing campaigns include an unsubscribe route. Workspace checks subscription status when messages are sent and suppresses contacts who are no longer subscribed.

Do not re-add an unsubscribed person unless they make a new, clear request to subscribe.

Complaints and deliverability

Repeated complaints, spam reports or poor-quality addresses can damage deliverability and may cause sending to be restricted. Use recognisable sender details and send content that matches the sign-up promise.

Email laws vary by location. Your studio is responsible for the rules that apply to its business and audience.
