How favouriting works in Client Galleries

Favouriting lets a client mark the photographs they prefer. You can then review those selections for an album, print order, proofing decision or another agreed purpose.

How a client selects favourites

The client selects the heart control associated with an image. On a phone, they may first need to open the image before the favourite control is shown.

The gallery’s favourites view lets the client review and change the current selection.

How favourites are identified

If the client already entered their email address when logging in to the gallery, Workspace uses that email address for their favourites.

If they have not already entered an email address, Workspace asks for it when they use favourites. It does not ask them to create a favourites password.

Favourites are associated with the email address entered. If someone enters an email address that already has saved favourites, Workspace loads that person’s existing selection and any new favourites are added to it. Entering a different email address changes which person’s favourites are being viewed and updated.

Use the same email address on every device

A client may enter one email address when first visiting the gallery, then use a different address when returning on another phone, tablet or computer. Workspace treats those addresses as different visitors, so their favourites can be split between two separate selections.

This can make photographs appear to be missing from the favourites list or result in you seeing more than one list for the same client. Ask the client to use the same email address every time they enter the gallery and on every device.

If selections have already been made under two addresses, check both favourite records before acting on the client’s final choices.

Give the client clear instructions

Explain what the favourites will be used for and whether there is a required number or deadline. “Choose your favourites” is incomplete when the client does not know whether they are selecting an album, prints or a shortlist for discussion.

It is also helpful to remind them which email address to use if they return later or continue selecting on another device.

Review the selections in Workspace

Open the gallery’s client activity or information area and view the client favourite images. See How to view your clients’ favourites.

Respect the purpose of the data

An email address provided for gallery access or favourites is not automatically permission for marketing. Use it only for the gallery and client relationship unless the person has separately opted in.
