Album Designer templates describe both the part of the spread they cover and whether an image may cross the centre of the album.
Single and double templates
- Single templates apply to one side of a spread: either the left page or the right page.
- Double templates arrange the complete spread across both the left and right pages.
Use a single template when the two sides need separate arrangements. Use a double template when you want to design the spread as one composition.
Standard and panoramic templates
- Standard templates keep each image aperture on one side of the spread.
- Panoramic templates allow an image aperture to extend across the centre and appear on both sides.
A panoramic treatment can create a strong continuous image, but the centre gutter still affects how the finished album is viewed. Keep faces, text and other critical details away from the centre.
Choose the template for the page type
The appearance of the centre varies between album page types. Some page types are split at the spine, while others fold or crease through it. Check the album specification and use the photosafe guidance shown in Album Designer rather than assuming every panoramic image will reproduce in the same way.
Review the result
After applying a template, check every crop, page edge and the centre gutter. Changing templates may reposition images already placed on the layout.
