Live Chat lets a visitor send you a message from your website. Set clear expectations about response time and make sure new conversations reach a place you regularly monitor.
Open Live Chat settings
- Open Client Management.
- Select Inbox (Emails & Live Chat).
- Open Live Chat Settings.
Configure the client-facing chat
Review the available settings for your studio name, welcome message, launcher and button wording, colours, opening behaviour and email notifications. You may also be able to connect a useful form.
Keep the greeting simple. Do not promise an immediate reply unless someone is genuinely monitoring the Inbox.
Enable Live Chat
Enable Live Chat before testing it on your Workspace website. The client-facing launcher and conversation flow cannot be properly tested while Live Chat is turned off.
If you are not ready to leave it available to visitors, enable it for the test and turn it off again afterwards. When the setup is ready and someone will monitor the Inbox, leave it enabled.
If you use the supported embed on another website, add the supplied code in the location required by that site or ask its administrator for help.
Test the experience
- Open the client-facing website rather than relying only on the settings screen.
- Check that your name and branding are correct.
- Read the greeting as a visitor would.
- Make sure the chat does not open so quickly that it interrupts the page.
- Send a sample message and confirm that it appears in the Inbox.
- Check the experience on a phone.
Respond and follow up
Reply through the Inbox. When a conversation becomes a genuine enquiry, connect it with the appropriate lead or contact and add a follow-up task if the next action cannot happen immediately.
