How to set up and use a Client Portal

A Client Portal gives a client a central place to access information and items connected with their relationship with your studio. It is useful when you want an ongoing client-level destination rather than a portal for only one project.

Client Portal or Project Portal?

  • Use a Client Portal when the information belongs to the client across their work with you.
  • Use a Project Portal when the content and links relate to one specific job.

A client may have more than one project, so choose the portal that best matches what you are sharing.

Set up the portal

  1. Open the relevant client in Client Management.
  2. Open the portal area for that client.
  3. Review the client details and the items available to share.
  4. Add or connect the relevant content.
  5. Review the portal from the client’s point of view before sharing it.

Share it with your client

Use the portal’s share or invitation option and confirm the recipient details. Explain what the portal contains and whether you expect the client to review, download, approve or complete anything.

Keep the portal useful

A portal works best when it remains clear. Remove obsolete links, keep project-specific information with the correct project, and check access whenever the client’s circumstances change.

For a portal centred on one job, see How to set up and share a Project Portal.
